Pendleton District is the name given to the region in 1790
when settlers from Charleston first brought government to the
area. Now made up of Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties in
South Carolina, the region boasts incredible natural beauty and
a rich history and culture preserved in many local museums and
historic sites. Fishing and boating on big-water lakes, whitewater
rafting down National Wild and Scenic Rivers, hiking, bicycling,
shopping, dining, attending college football, basketball, baseball,
track, rowing, tennis, equine competitions, or the Big League
World Series, visiting museums or genealogy libraries – the
Pendleton District will call you to return time after time!
Located halfway between Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte,
North Carolina, USA, along Interstate 85, Pendleton District
of South Carolina is in the Upstate, or Northwest corner of
the state. Our temperate climate is enjoyed by visitors year-round,
although late July and early August can be a bit warm for our
European friends.
