The Pickens County Museum of Art & History will be presenting three new exhibitions from December 12, 2009, through February 11, 2010. Please join us from 6-9 p.m. on December 12 as we host a reception to meet the artists featured in "April Harrison: Grateful," "Story, Song and Image: A merging of Musical Heritage and Narrative Painting" and "The Up'State of Clay." All three exhibitions will continue through Feb. 11, 2010.
April Harrison is a native of Greenville, SC, and paints images primarily in acrylic, powder, watercolor, pencil and collage. Her diverse collection of media makes it possible for her to work fast, layering numerous colors, textures and images, many with found objects. "Grateful" speaks to a life of faith in a god who blesses daily.
John and Glen Miller merge musical heritage with narrative painting due to their passionate interst in the traditional music of South Carolina lnd how it intertwines with its people and their lives.
Twenty six influencial ceramic artists of the upstate will exhibit their works to give you an opportunity to see the diversity of artisans in the upper area of South Carolina. A collection of this many featured artists in one place makes this a must see for everyone.
The opening of the exhibits will be on December 12, but will continue to be available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridayds from 9am - 5 pm, Thursdays 9 am - 7:30 pm and Saturdays 9 am - 4:30 pm through February 11, 2010.
