The Pendleton District Historical, Recreational, and Tourism
Commission was established in 1966 by the South Carolina Legislature
to promote historic preservation and tourism in Anderson, Oconee,
and Pickens Counties of South Carolina. The Commission is made
up of nine Commissioners, with three nominated by the Legislative
Delegations of each of the three counties represented.

Pendleton District Commission Staff
The staff operate a regional
Visitor Center in the Guardhouse on the Village Green in
the town of Pendleton, maintain the Local History Archives
and Genealogy Library, operate the Pendleton District Agricultural
Museum on History Lane near Tri-County Technical College, and
steward the South Carolina Century Farm Program honoring South
Carolina families who have owned their farms for 100 consecutive
years or more.
